What is dog home boarding?
Dog home boarding means your dog stays in a licensed carer's own home instead of a kennel. At Tor Patrol your dog lives in the house with us, sleeps indoors, keeps to their usual routine and goes out on two walks a day.
Is home boarding better than kennels?
For most dogs, yes. Home boarding is quieter, less stressful and more like home than kennels. Dogs get company all day instead of long spells alone in a run. It suits nervous dogs, older dogs and dogs who have never been away from their owners.
Which areas do you cover?
We are based in Plympton, Plymouth (PL7), close to Newnham Road. We're a short drive from Plymstock, Elburton, Sparkwell, Lee Mill, Ivybridge and central Plymouth.
Do you need to meet my dog before booking?
Yes. Every new dog starts with a free meet & greet, then a short trial day or overnight stay, so we can check they settle and get on with the other dogs.
Are you licensed?
Tor Patrol operates as a dog home boarding business under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018, licensed through Plymouth City Council. We're happy to show you our licence at your meet & greet.
How many dogs do you look after at once?
Never more than six at any one time. Keeping the group small means every dog gets proper attention and we can match dogs that get on well together.
Where will my dog sleep?
Indoors, in the house. Bring their bed or blanket and a favourite toy so they have something that smells like home.
Can you take puppies, older dogs or dogs on medication?
Usually, yes. Tell us about your dog when you get in touch and we'll talk through what they need before you book.
What if my dog gets ill while staying?
We contact you straight away and take your dog to your own vet where possible, or a local vet if it's urgent. That's why we ask for your vet and emergency contact details up front.
Do you collect and drop off?
Ask us when you book. Most owners drop off and collect from us in Plympton, and we'll agree times that suit you.
